Throughout the year we use water from our rain barrels to wash tools and worm bins and fill watering cans.
Overflow from the rain barrel goes into our perforated sump. From there stormwater is absorbed by the soil.
We turned our boulevard lawn into a native plant garden.
The Fawn lily is one such beautiful native plant. Others are Kinnikinnik, Deer fern, Saskatoon berry, Oregon grape and Red flowering currant.
We take care of our neighbour's boulevard lawn. After mowing we leave the clipping on the lawn to provide moisture.
We don't water our lawn but if you choose to use a timer, don't water more than 1 hour a week.
Our green permeable lane.
Permeable pavers allow water to flow into the ground and not into the sewers.
Broken pieces of old sidewalk also provide drainage.
